Although this story is in the fantasy genre, it is essentially a love story between a young woman fulfilling her destiny as the guardian who prevents evil from entering the world and the warrior assigned to protect her. There were so many ancient gods and goddesses described in the book, I had a hard time keeping track of all of them.
