“Where the Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens

Book Cover

Kya is a young girl who is abandoned by her family, and left to fend for herself in the marshes of North Carolina.  With the help and encouragement of a local boy, she learns to read and write, and actually has a book published about the creatures living in the marsh.  (Although I enjoyed the story, I found this concept of her publishing a book to be quite far-fetched.)  There is also the story of another young man who visits Kya, and is later found dead.  Is Kia responsible for his death?  The reader must form his/her own opinion, as this question is never answered definitively.
