Borrowing Rules:
Commack Public Library adult cardholders, 18 years of age and over, and in good standing, may borrow an item from the Library of Things collection.
- Items may be reserved up to 60 days in advance.
- Most Library of Things items have a seven (7) day loan period. WIFI hotspots can be borrowed for 14 days and blood pressure monitors can be borrowed for 28 days.
- Library of Things items are limited to one per family/household, at one time.
- Library of Things items may not be reserved for successive (back-to-back) loans.

How long may I borrow a Library of Things item for?
Most Library of Things items have a seven (7) day loan period. WIFI hotspots can be borrowed for 14 days and blood pressure monitors can be borrowed for 28 days. Items cannot be checked out earlier than your reserved date. The return date will be noted on your email confirmation.
Where do I pick up the item?
At the Reference Desk.
Where do I return my Library of Things item?
Items must be returned to the Commack Public Library only. Please return the item at the Circulation Desk. If the Library is closed due to a holiday, please return the item at opening on the next business day as it may be reserved for another patron. Do not return the item in the book drop.
What if I return a Library of Things item late?
A $5.00 per day late fee will be charged to your library card if the item is returned late. If an item is lost, the borrower will be charged any fee incurred by its replacement.
What if the Library of Things item gets damaged?
Please report the damage to the Reference Staff immediately. If the damaged part can be replaced, you will only be charged the cost of the replacement part. If a replacement part cannot be obtained, you will be charged the full cost of the item plus processing fees.
How do I cancel my reservation?
Call the Library at 631-499-0888 and speak to a reference librarian.
As a courtesy to others, please cancel any reservation you will not be using as soon as possible so it can be made available to other patrons.
